Who is Jo Henwood?

Stories are the heart of everything Jo does.

Stories are who we are - as individuals and as communities.

This was the secret Jo realised she had always known - as a lover of literature, films, theatre, and folklore - when she became a Tour Guide more than twenty years ago.

From that moment on, storytelling gave light to her tours in heritage sites all around Sydney.

Through the NSW Storytelling Guild she learnt the skills to express her passion so she could perform stories from different cultures and to different audiences - always learning, always growing, always sharing.

Jo discovered that all that she unearths about history, education, culture, can go out into the world...as stories that are for everyone because they include everyone.

We are all the sum of our stories and these stories should be told.

Australian Fairy Tale Society

In 2013 Jo Henwood co founded the Australian Fairy Tale Society as a community of storytellers, writers, artists, academics and researchers, to interpret the meanings of fairy tales from an Australian perspective.  This vibrant nation wide organisation (with a few international members) has enjoyed many conferences, explored multiple fairy tales, created new works, and made new friends.  Five times a year Jo facilitates the Sydney Fairy Tale Ring in North Sydney, as well as resourcing the Society to create new and exciting projects.
